Position

The Patient Services Specialist is part of the Patient Services team, responsible for coordinating and delivering services related to the patient support programs offered by McKesson Specialty. The role involves interactions with patients, insurance companies, pharmacies, physicians, and other health care professionals to explore and obtain coverage for prescribed medication, as well as managing patient cases.

Bilingual in French / English

Work hours: Rotational or varied hours; hours of operation are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday

Compensation: $50,000.00 – $52,000.00

Responsibilities
  • The Patient Services Specialist will be responsible for the timely enrollment of patients into the Patient Support Program
  • Liaise with patients, insurers, and physicians regarding documentation required for maximum reimbursement coverage, exploring all public and private insurers and providing escalations as needed
  • Conduct information collection and verify patient eligibility for financial assistance based on program guidelines
  • Provide responses to general inquiry calls based on program materials
  • Coordinate with Specialty and Retail pharmacies to ensure access to the required treatment
  • Proactively monitor patient files to ensure timely reimbursement and financial assistance renewals
  • Process documents supporting patient care, including infusion reports, lab results, and copays
  • Receive, record, and report adverse events per pharmaceutical manufacturer requirements
  • Participate in departmental continuous improvement activities related to process, quality, training, etc.
  • Maintain service levels in case management, including telephone answer rates and time to initial patient contact
  • Adverse events reported within 24 hours of receipt and other program KPI targets
  • Perform data-entry, answer inbound calls, make outbound calls, manage email and fax software, and perform general administrative duties
Minimum Requirements
  • Typically requires 5+ years of related experience

The incumbent will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients in or outside Quebec and/or the United States. Proficiency in spoken and written English and French is required.
