Overview

About the Role

Serving as a vital member of the management team, the Assistant Vice President Finance and Corporate Services is responsible for overseeing both financial and operational functions for the Hospital. This position also provides strategic leadership across areas such as Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable / Receivable, IT, and Information Management, and extends management support to the Algonquin Nursing Home.

Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Services and CFO, this position fosters strong relationships with staff and community partners, ensures regulatory compliance, establishes objectives and standards, addresses operational issues, and promotes a culture of quality and safety. In addition, this position participates in the Management on Call rotation and provides leadership to a team of four direct reports—two at the hospital and two at the nursing home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial & Operational Management: Oversee finances, operations, IT, and information management for Mattawa Hospital and Algonquin Nursing Home.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead teams across departments to ensure effective operations while fostering strong relationships with staff and community partners.
  • Compliance & Planning: Ensure regulatory compliance by setting objectives and standards that align with the hospital’s goals.
  • Quality & Issue Resolution: Foster a culture of quality and safety while promptly addressing and resolving operational issues.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an engaged, collaborative leader with a proven track record in finance and management within the health care sector. They bring demonstrated strengths in team leadership, mentorship, and performance management, thriving in dynamic settings where meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities are essential. A dedication to quality, safety, and ethical integrity is fundamental, as is a genuine passion for community service. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting both Mattawa Hospital and the Algonquin Nursing Home.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Financial Accounting, or related field;
  • Financial Accounting Designation (CPA or CA) in good standing;
  • 3 to 5 years’ management experience in health care, or related field;
  • Proven leadership experience, including team coaching, mentorship, and performance management in health care, or related field;
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and multitask;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • Bilingual in English and French would be an asset;
  • Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector, required;
