Job summary

A healthcare provider in Nova Scotia is seeking a Mental Health Nurse to deliver nursing care and rehabilitation programs as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate must have recent psychiatric nursing experience and be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Strong skills in assessment, planning, and evaluating mental health treatment are essential. This position requires travel within the operational area.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with recent psychiatric nursing experience.
• Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) model and treatment methodologies.
• Understanding of mental health legislation and consumer rights.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and core mental health services.
• Develop and implement client-centered rehabilitation programs.
• Contribute to monitoring and enhancing the physical site.

Skills

Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate mental health treatment programs

Ability to administer and monitor psychotropic medications

Effective communication and counseling skills

Crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques

Leadership and teaching skills

Education

Current CPR certification

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives

Minimum one year of psychiatric nursing experience
