As a Landscape Architecture Junior Drafting Professional at M. Hudson Design, you will play a vital role in shaping the foundation of our projects, focusing on the pre‑design and preliminary design phases. In close collaboration with our Senior Drafting Professional and design team, you will be responsible for developing precise technical drawings and plans that set the stage for each project’s success. After mastering the Junior Drafting Professional role, there is significant room for growth within the company. You will have the opportunity to be promoted to Senior Drafting Professional, where you will take on the responsibility of managing a drafting team and overseeing larger projects.

• Developing Pre‑Design Deliverables: create key pre‑design documents, including the Survey Base Sheet, Inventory Base Sheet, Proposed Base Sheet, and Inventory Proposed Base Sheet.
• Drafting Schematic Designs: use AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator to draft schematic designs, visualizing the project’s direction and concept.
• Drafting Preliminary Designs: assist in drafting preliminary designs that reflect the client’s vision while maintaining functionality, aesthetic appeal, and feasibility.
• Ensuring Accuracy and Compliance: ensure all drawings are accurate and meet local codes and regulations, as directed by the design team.
• Collaborating and Refining Designs: actively collaborate with team members to refine designs, contributing to innovative and feasible plans.
• Updating Drafts: update drafts based on feedback and revisions from the design team, ensuring final designs align with the project vision and standards.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Design Software: strong command of AutoCAD or other relevant drafting software; familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.
• Exceptional Attention to Detail: keen eye for detail and accuracy in all drawings and designs.
• Understanding of Landscape Architecture Principles: foundational knowledge of landscape architecture principles, especially for residential design.

Hourly Rate: You will receive an hourly rate between $15‑$25/hr, based on your experience and skill set, ensuring that your compensation reflects the value you bring to the team.

Annual Inflation Adjustment: To account for the rising cost of living, you will receive a minimum 3% annual inflation‑based increase in your hourly rate, ensuring your compensation keeps pace with economic changes.

Performance‑Based Hourly Increase: In addition to the inflation adjustment, your hourly rate will be reviewed annually, with the potential for further increases based on your performance and contributions to the team.

Annual Performance Bonus: As a Junior Drafting Professional, you will be eligible for an annual performance bonus, tied to both your individual achievements and the success of the team.
