As a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Platform), you will work at the core of VTEX's infrastructure, leading initiatives that impact all engineering and all our customers globally. You will be one of the team's main technical references, driving architectural decisions, risk mitigation, and technological evolution of one of the largest-scale platforms in Latin America. This role exists to design and operate the future of our infrastructure: scalable, resilient, observable, cost-efficient, and secure. It is a role of extremely high impact and visibility.

• Find opportunities and anticipate risks in critical systems — preventing problems from design to production and increasing resilience and reliability.
• Solve complex and ambiguous problems involving multiple systems and services, often spanning different technical domains (e.g., Cloud, Observability, Edge, Networking, Databases, Security).
• Define technical directions for the Cloud domain, influencing standards, practices, and architectural decisions beyond your team, even without formal authority.
• Build the long-term technical vision for critical domains, defining engineering golden paths used across the entire company.
• Balance trade-offs between short and long term, local vs. global, optimization vs. time-to-market.
• Lead cross-team and cross-domain projects, ensuring efficient execution, influencing EMs, PMs, and technical leadership to converge on strategic solutions.
• Act as a bar-raiser, participating in hiring, promotions, and evaluations, helping to elevate the company's technical level.

• You have solid experience in backend and/or cloud engineering
• You demonstrate technical depth in distributed infra, orchestration, networking, and/or security
• You have a track record of high-impact technical leadership (not just feature ownership)
• You have led and have experience with cross-team projects and alignment with non-technical areas
• You demonstrate the ability to navigate problems with a high degree of uncertainty and large scale
• You have strong communication and influence
