Regulatory Research Analyst – Global Trade
For our global independent support provider we are looking within their Tax, Regulations team for an independent Regulatory Research Analyst with experience across regions LATAM and North America – with the capability to explore topics globally, for Global Trade regulations primarily and the capacity to research on indirect tax as well.
SAP expertise in GTS is ideal or exposure to be aware of the system requirements to maintain GTS v11 and help keep up to date global clients. The researcher is the first port of call for the legal changes and provides the details to the ERP expert team.
You will work fully remote and most likely have limited engagement with clients. The role is focused on research and interaction with the Business Analysts and other researchers.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring up to date awareness of legislative changes in assigned countries through a variety of sources, such as governmental websites, agencies, third‑party companies, and in‑country experts.
- Tracking global trade compliance regulations, including customs duties, sanctions, export controls, and tariff updates across jurisdictions (e.g., U.S., Canada, LATAM).
- Understanding the legislative process of the countries – interpreting and documenting new and changed legislation for specific countries in our internal source repository, organizing and communicating information, clearly disclosing the details needed by the product specialist that will make necessary system changes for clients, preparing comparative analysis of changes if required, and performing the job function through adherence to ISO processes.
- SAP GTS alignment and research focused for example on:
- Export Control & Licensing
- Import Control & Market Access
- Sanctions & Restricted Party Compliance
- Customs & Tariff Management
- Trade Agreements & Origin Management
- Regulatory Reporting & Declarations
- Product & Classification Compliance
- Knowledge of country‑specific filing requirements, transaction tax (VAT, GST, etc.) and/or financial accounting is good to have in order to have the possibility to expand to indirect tax research.
Must have requirements
- Must be bilingual at a minimum – English and one other LATAM language (Portuguese/Spanish).
- 5+ years work experience in the tax and global trade international arena – working knowledge of SAP GTS or similar trade compliance systems.
- Familiarity with international trade laws (e.g., EAR, ITAR, EU Dual Use, WCO).
- Strong research and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Nice‑to‑Have requirements
- Able to prioritize and work independently.
- Ability to research effectively from a computer through the internet and have knowledge of business computer applications including Microsoft Office; research skills that go beyond government sites can include social media, subscriptions, etc.
- Able to compile comprehensive information into meaningful summaries and documentation.
- Technical understanding of SAP ERP‑Tax / Accounting workflows would be an advantage.
- Could be trained but would be nice to have: good understanding of tools like Excel, SharePoint, Google and Word translate, PDF generation. Other tools used, training will be provided (AbbyFineReader, Deepl, Inoreader, Beyond compare).
