Job Summary

The Product Control GBS team is accountable for delivery of the end-to-end product & valuation control functions in GBS and lead different strategic initiatives for Macro Product Control & Solutions. We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled professional to join our team as Associate Vice President – Macro Product Control, reporting into the Product Control Management which rolls up to Global Head, Product Control. This role will play a pivotal part in expanding the Bank’s Macro Product capabilities, developing compliant and commercially effective strategies, and supporting transition initiatives. The successful candidate will act as lead running the Macro Product Control team, working closely with Technical Accounting, COO’s, Product Control, and other key stakeholders to deliver best-in-class Macro Product Control across the Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy
    • Responsible for producing and managing the Daily P&L workflow for the Macro desk
    • Spearhead the end-to-end design and implementation of Macro changes —from opportunity assessment to final accounting approval. This could include TP changes, accounting changes etc.
    • Identification and remediation of control gaps
    • Lead Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives for new strategies, business models, sig trade reviews and new product approvals for the bank
  • Business
    • Partner with Technical Accounting, Group Reporting, and Product Control to drive compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IAS 39, IFRS 9).
    • Coordinate with Valuation Control and other key stakeholders to ensure book closure is accurate.
  • Processes
    • Responsible for running various PC Handbook related controls like Daily P&L reporting, Actual vs Estimates, P&L commentaries, VaR backtesting submissions.
    • Collaborate closely with regional and cross-functional teams (e.g., Macro, local CFOs, TA, COO, VC) to deliver enterprise-wide initiatives.
    • Champion thought leadership, mentor peers, and support knowledge-sharing across regions.
  • People & Talent
    • To lead, inspire and motivate the Macro Product Control team ensuring that everyone achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda.
    • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners across the organization.
Risk Management

Prepare and present complex technical Macro Product papers under IAS 39/IFRS 9 for internal stakeholders and external auditor endorsement

Governance

Lead and manage financial projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is strongly preferred.
  • 10–12 years of experience in finance or accounting functions, with a strong preference for candidates with Macro Product expertise.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Macro Products and their accounting (e.g., IAS 39) and practical experience in financial instrument valuation.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing Macro Product strategies across multiple risk types.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to apply judgment in data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across business, finance, and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with Macro Product tools and financial systems (e.g., Sabre Cortex, Murex) is an advantage.
