The Industry 4.0 District is a major initiative by UAE University, aligning with its goal to become the University of the Future . This District Hub is an advanced industrial innovation and prototyping centre, designed to bridge the gap between research, education, and industry. Equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, automation systems, robotics and drones. The hub serves as a collaborative space for engineers, students, and industry professionals. Our mission is to drive cutting-edge research, product development, and technical training to empower the next generation of innovators and enhance industrial capabilities.
The successful candidate for the Lead Electronics Engineer position will collaborate closely with the District s management and coordinators.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Electronics Engineer to manage and oversee the Electronics & Embedded Systems Section within the District Hub. This role includes designing, developing, and testing electronic circuits, embedded systems, automation projects, and IoT applications. The engineer will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, conducting staff training, and delivering educational programs for university students.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Electronics & Embedded Systems Development:
Lead the design, prototyping, and testing of electronic circuits and embedded systems.
Develop solutions using microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and IoT devices.
Work with PCB design and fabrication using software like Altium, Eagle, or KiCad.
Program and integrate embedded systems (Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
Ensure hardware and firmware optimization for industrial applications.
2. Research, Development & Industrial Applications
Support industrial R&D projects in automation, robotics, and mechatronics.
Develop smart solutions using IoT, AI-driven electronics, and automation.
Work on power electronics, energy-efficient systems, and industrial control designs.
Collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects involving CNC, additive manufacturing, and mechanical systems.
3. Staff Training & Technical Supervision
Supervise engineers and technicians, ensuring smooth lab operations.
Develop training programs for staff on circuit design, embedded programming, and industrial electronics.
Manage equipment, tools, and consumables, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory control.
4. Student Training & Educational Programs
Conduct hands-on training sessions and workshops on electronics & embedded systems.
Mentor university students on capstone projects and industrial research initiatives.
Help with organizing competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges in electronics.
5. Quality Control & Compliance
Ensure design validation, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
Implement failure analysis, risk assessment, and debugging methodologies.
Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation for projects.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of experience in circuit design, embedded systems, and industrial electronics.
Experience in PCB design & fabrication (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, KiCad).
Hands-on experience in embedded programming (C, C++, Python) for microcontrollers.
Experience with IoT, automation, and communication protocols (MQTT, CAN, RS485, etc.).
Strong knowledge of power electronics, signal processing, and control systems.
