Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Piping Engineer specializing in Piping Layout to join our this role you will be responsible for developing and optimizing the layout of piping systems in our oil and gas facilities ensuring efficient and effective routing while adhering to project specifications industry standards and safety regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop conceptual and detailed piping layouts for oil and gas facilities including refineries petrochemical plants and production platforms.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD MicroStation) to create plan and elevation drawings isometric views and piping arrangement diagrams incorporating equipment instrumentation and structural elements.
  • Coordinate with process engineers piping designers and other stakeholders to ensure that piping layouts meet process requirements equipment spacing constraints and safety considerations.
  • Conduct clash detection and interference checks to identify and resolve conflicts between piping systems equipment and other plant components.
  • Optimize piping routing and support arrangements to minimize piping spans reduce pressure drop facilitate maintenance access and enhance constructability.
  • Prepare piping material take-offs (MTOs) bill of materials (BOMs) and cost estimates for piping layouts and support structures.
  • Review vendor drawings and specifications for piping components such as valves fittings and supports and incorporate them into piping layouts as required.
  • Perform field surveys and inspections to verify existing piping layouts identify as-built deviations and support retrofit and modification projects.
  • Provide technical support during construction commissioning and startup of piping systems resolving layout-related issues and ensuring compliance with design specifications.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in piping engineering with a focus on piping layout and design for oil and gas facilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD MicroStation or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards including ASME B31.3 ASME B31.4 ASME B31.8 and API 570.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (e.g. PDMS SmartPlant 3D) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality piping layouts that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.
