Position Overview

As an English Language Teacher for Kindergarten at The Spanish School of Abu Dhabi, you will nurture young learners in their early years of development. Your role is to create a safe, caring, and stimulating classroom where children can explore, learn, and grow socially, emotionally, and academically. We seek teachers who bring creativity, patience, and enthusiasm to their classrooms, using play-based and student-centered approaches that build strong foundations in English language acquisition while fostering curiosity and a love for learning.

Responsibilities
  • Warm and inclusive environment: Create a nurturing classroom that fosters a sense of belonging and safety for children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Age-appropriate curriculum: Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with early years standards, focusing on language, literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
  • Play-based learning: Use play, storytelling, songs, and hands-on activities to make learning enjoyable and meaningful.
  • Clear routines and expectations: Establish daily routines and communicate simple, clear expectations to help children feel secure and supported.
  • Individualized attention: Support each child’s unique developmental needs, differentiating instruction to accommodate varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Technology integration: Introduce child-friendly digital tools and resources to enrich the learning experience in an age-appropriate way.
  • Student assessment: Observe and document student progress through formative methods such as portfolios, checklists, and anecdotal records, providing regular feedback to parents / guardians.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, assistants, and support staff to provide a consistent and holistic learning experience.
  • Family engagement: Maintain open and positive communication with parents / guardians, involving them in their child’s learning journey and school life.
  • Classroom management: Ensure a safe, positive, and orderly classroom environment through gentle guidance, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate behavior management strategies.
  • Professional development: Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance teaching practices, early childhood knowledge, and classroom strategies.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 7 : 30 am – 4 : 30 pm

Participation in Early Bird Program and afternoon dismissal on a rotating schedule

School holidays follow the ADEK-approved calendar

Requirements
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a related field
  • A recognized degree in early years / primary education or a closely related field is required.

Teaching certification / license

  • Official early childhood / primary teaching certification or equivalent qualifications recognized by the relevant educational authorities.

Preferred : Additional training or coursework in early childhood development, English language teaching, or play-based methodologies.

Experience and Skills
  • Proven experience teaching Kindergarten or early years students, ideally in a multicultural or international school setting.
  • Native-level proficiency in English (Spanish language skills are an advantage but not required).
  • Knowledge of early years curriculum and familiarity with play-based, student-centered, and inquiry-based learning approaches.
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to create a safe, caring, and inclusive environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with young learners, parents / guardians, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability to meet the developmental needs of young children.
  • A passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering curiosity, independence, and holistic development.
