Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Workshop Technician to support the technical operations of our Internet Service Provider business. The Workshop Technician will be responsible for preparing, testing, repairing, and maintaining customer-premises equipment (CPE), networking hardware, and related infrastructure used in the delivery of internet services. This role requires strong technical skills, troubleshooting ability, and a proactive attitude to ensure equipment is ready for deployment and service quality is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, configure, and test networking equipment (routers, modems, access points, switches, radios, and other CPE devices).
  • Diagnose and repair faulty hardware or replace defective components.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, refurbishments, and inventory movements.
  • Ensure all devices are flashed with correct firmware, security settings, and tested before deployment.
  • Assist with equipment staging for field technicians and installations.
  • Perform quality checks on incoming stock and returned equipment.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and a safe working environment.
  • Provide technical support to the field team for escalated hardware-related issues.
  • Stay up to date with new networking equipment, tools, and ISP technology trends.
Qualifications
  • Matric / Grade 12 (required).
  • National Diploma in IT, Electronics, Networking, or related field (advantageous).
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a technical support, electronics repair, or networking workshop role.
  • Knowledge of TCP / IP, networking fundamentals, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with tools, test equipment, and firmware / software loading processes.
