A medical logistics company is looking for a Walker in the Eastern Cape to ensure safe and timely collection and delivery of laboratory samples and medical supplies. The role involves strong client relations, compliance with hygiene protocols, and maintaining documentation accuracy. Previous experience in logistics or healthcare is advantageous. The candidate should possess physical stamina for extended deliveries and maintain reliability in their duties.
The Walker is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional collection and delivery of laboratory samples, medical supplies, and stock items within designated areas.
The role also includes maintaining strong relationships with healthcare providers through regular check-ins and ensuring compliance with all operational, safety, and confidentiality standards.
Collect laboratory specimens, stock, and other items from healthcare facilities and deliver them to designated locations on foot.
Ensure accurate recording of collections and deliveries, maintaining full chain of custody.
Handle medical samples with care in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular check-ins with doctors, clinics, and healthcare staff to maintain service quality.
Address basic queries and elevate client concerns to the Courier Supervisor.
Report delays, incidents, or discrepancies immediately to the Controller.
Assist with stock checks and distribution when required.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and service-level agreements.
Follow hygiene and infection-control protocols when handling biological samples.
Ensure proper packaging, labelling, and transport of all items.
Maintain personal fitness and readiness for extended walking duties.
Consistently punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.
Ensures accuracy in documentation and sample handling.
Builds positive relationships with doctors and healthcare staff.
Able to relay information clearly and professionally.
Capable of extended walking and carrying small to medium packages.
Understands and applies confidentiality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
100% compliance with sample handling and chain of custody protocols.
Timely completion of all collections and deliveries according to schedules.
Positive client feedback from doctors and healthcare facilities.
Zero incidents of misplaced, delayed, or mishandled specimens.
Adherence to company policies, health, and safety requirements.
Previous experience in logistics, courier services, or healthcare (advantageous).
Knowledge of medical sample handling procedures (advantageous).
Primarily on-foot deliveries within designated areas.
Exposure to varying weather conditions.
May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, or public holidays depending on operations.
