Overview

(Market related) We are seeking a skilled Tyre Attendant / Tyre Technician for a contract position based in Port Elizabeth. Immediate availability

Responsibilities
  • Installing new tyres on vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards (including earth moving equipment, cars and trucks)
  • Remove and replace worn or damaged tyres, including dismounting, mounting and balancing
  • Inspect tyres for wear patterns, punctures, and other damage and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements
  • Perform wheel alignments to ensure proper handling and tyre wear
  • Inflate tyres to recommended pressure levels and check for leaks
  • Ensure all assets remain compliant in terms of MHSA and other regulations
  • Maintain and repair on all vehicles including trailer types
  • Ensure minimal vehicle downtime by ensuring a swift turn-around time for all assets
  • Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, gasoline or other fluids
  • Learn and follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment, ensuring tools and equipment are property stored and maintained
  • Adhere to workplace safety standards and regulations, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Conduct periodic checks of equipment and work areas to ensure that they are free of clutter and dangerous materials like broken glass
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Tyre Fitter relevant qualification / training
  • 1-2 years previous experience as a tyre fitter or in a similar automotive service role
  • Valid drivers licence (Code 10)
  • Extensive understanding of mechanical tyre systems and tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical abilities and decision making skills
  • Basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
