Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a senior HR project manager to lead high-impact projects and influence executive leadership. This role involves delivering HR projects from concept to execution, shaping people strategy, and ensuring compliance with South African labor legislation. The ideal candidate will possess 8–10 years of HR experience, with strong project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at the executive level. Qualifications

Job description

This role leads high-impact projects, partners with executive leadership, and ensures strong governance, alignment, and delivery across the HR portfolio.

You will influence decision-making at the highest levels and play a critical role in shaping a future-fit workforce.

This role offers the opportunity to shape people strategy at scale, influence at Board level, and lead transformation in a dynamic and essential industry.

Duties
  1. Lead and deliver cross-functional HR projects from concept to execution (including HRIS, EVP, and workforce planning).
  2. Develop project charters, governance frameworks, budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
  3. Track progress and report on KPIs and milestones.
  4. Prepare and coordinate high-quality HR packs and presentations for the Board and Board subcommittees.
  5. Translate complex HR data into clear, compelling executive insights.
  6. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and strategic relevance of all Board-facing material.
  7. Drive HR Leadership Team meetings, including agenda setting, documentation, and action tracking.
  8. Enable alignment across HR Centres of Excellence and Business Partners.
  9. Lead organisational change initiatives linked to culture, restructuring, and capability building.
  10. Partner with senior leadership to embed change and measure business impact.
  11. Support the optimisation and implementation of digital HR tools and platforms.
  12. Use data analytics to inform people decisions and measure project ROI.
  13. Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, BBBEE, and industry regulations.
  14. Support audit preparation, risk reviews, and governance reporting.
  15. Build strong relationships with executives, unions, consultants, and key partners.
  16. Drive transparent, structured communication across all organisational levels.
Job Experience & Skills Required
  • Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12), Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field. Project Management certification advantageous. Postgraduate qualification in HR, Strategy, or Business Leadership advantageous.
  • Experience: 8‑10 years progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in strategic project or programme management. Proven experience working at Executive and Board level. Exposure to FMCG, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies: Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, and HRIS capability. Solid understanding of South African labour legislation and HR governance. Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI). Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen. Executive-level storytelling and presentation skills.
