Job summary

A leading food distribution company in South Africa seeks an Operations Manager to lead projects and enhance operational efficiency across service centres, warehousing, and logistics. This role emphasizes strategic process improvement and project implementation, requiring 5–7 years' experience in supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and analytical skills, along with a relevant qualification in Operations Management or related fields.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years’ experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Proven experience managing operational projects or leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse optimisation, layout design, and WMS functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage operational improvement projects across service centres, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.
  • Oversee the rollout of new systems, processes, technologies, and SOPs.
  • Drive optimisation of space, workflows, warehouse layout, and material handling solutions.
  • Conduct operational analysis and develop business cases for enhancements and cost savings.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with managers to resolve operational challenges.
  • Manage relationships and performance of key service providers.
  • Lead health & safety improvements, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate projects with Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, and Sales.
