Description
Davis School District is accepting applications for Speech‑Language Pathologists for the 2024‑2025 school year. The role includes evaluating students, developing individualized plans, delivering instruction, maintaining data, collaborating with teams, supervising technicians, and adhering to ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Administers, scores, and interprets formal and informal speech and language tests to determine eligibility and provide diagnostic information.
- Develops/adapts, administers, scores, and interprets curriculum‑based assessments for educational programming decisions.
- Observes, records, analyzes, and summarizes speech and language behavior of students in appropriate settings.
- Coordinates, administers, scores, and interprets audiological hearing screenings and communicates results.
- Develops an IEP in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members using assessment data.
- Develops appropriate lesson plans consistent with the IEP goals and objectives.
- Delivers specially designed instruction consistent with the IEP and tiered educational supports aligned with student needs.
- Utilizes a system for ongoing maintenance of individual and student progress data for compliance.
- Maintains classroom organization and discipline and establishes standards of pupil behavior.
- Utilizes computers and other technological support equipment in instruction.
- Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the therapy setting.
- Evaluates student growth, keeps accurate records, and prepares periodic progress reports to be shared with parents and staff.
- Communicates with parents on an ongoing basis through conferences and other means discussing progress and refining goals.
- Communicates, cooperates, and collaborates with other professional staff across growth areas.
- Supervises Speech‑Language Technicians as outlined in the USBE SLT Handbook.
- Maintains supervising competencies consistent with the USBE SLT Handbook.
- Demonstrates adherence to the professional Code of Ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Valid professional educator license for the State of Utah with a Speech‑Language Pathologist concentration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer and educational technological skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment and handle student management issues in a calm manner.
- Ability to deliver effective speech‑language pathology services.
