THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Insurance - Business Development & Compliance to join our Insurance Team. Reporting to the Head of Legal Entity, this role takes our Insurance operations to a whole new level, encouraging you to exceed business targets.
REQUIREMENT OVERVIEW
- Identify, develop and oversee the implementation, training and budgeted growth of MBFS SA Finance, Insurance and value-added products, to and through the agent network and customers (including Corporate Customers) to ensure all business targets are achieved, whilst ensuring high levels of agent and customer satisfaction.
- Support the strategic direction and business development plans for Insurance in South Africa that ensures alignment with the vision and goals of our organization, locally and globally that transcend our overall brand and company objectives.
- Drive innovation, change and continuous improvement throughout the Insurance business to challenge key stakeholders and resources to top performance.
- Lead and implement compliance relating to procedures as governed by FSCA and Insurance / Financial Industry legislation for all sales channels.
WHAT DO YOUR DUTIES ENTAIL?
INSURANCE STRATEGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Responsible and accountable for the overall Insurance Business for MBFS including processes, systems, people and supplier management.
- Implement MBFS SA Insurance strategy with the objective of profitable growth.
- Work closely with Insurance Partners in exploring new products and campaigns which support insurance sales.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align insurance strategy and dealer engagement.
- Ensure target achievements are being met, monitor KPI’s and Service Level Agreements.
INSURANCE PARTNER & DEALER NETWORK MANAGEMENT
- Stakeholder Management of Insurance Partners (Insurance) and active management of insurance panel to ensure profitable growth (Ongoing monitoring of portfolio).
- Actively manage insurance panel for profitable growth and portfolio monitoring.
- Prepare monthly dealer performance reports and conduct quarterly business reviews.
- Analyse sales data, conversion ratios, and customer segmentation to identify growth opportunities.
- Drive development and maintenance of insurance product suite to meet market and regulatory needs.
Manage and Coordinate Compliance Duties
- Ensure compliance with STI Act, FAIS Act, POPIA, and other relevant regulations.
- Review and approve customer documentation, policy wording, and marketing material for compliance.
- Maintain Representative Register and manage recruitment vetting for outsourced sales agents.
- Oversee complaints register and ensure timely resolution. Ensure on time logging of incoming complaints and manage process until complaint has been resolved.
- Implement legislative changes and ensure 100% compliance across insurance operations and submit before FSCA deadlines.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE & QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Monitor effectiveness across insurance processes. Implement compliant sales scripts and oversee quality checks on sales calls.
- Provide training to close compliance gaps and ensure advice quality.
- Support insurer due diligence processes and maintain valid agreements.
INSURANCE PROJECTS
- Lead strategic insurance projects to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
- Manage project scope, timelines, and stakeholder alignment.
- Ensure and support direct sales consultants for business continuity.
- Promote continuous process improvement and system enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5 years experience in insurance, compliance, or automotive financial services.
Must be qualified to act as Insurance Representative and Key Individual (relevant accreditation)
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
- Strong knowledge of FAIS, STI, POPIA, and FSCA regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
