Job description
Overview

PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

Scope And Purpose Of The Role

To ensure that Glass conforms to Production and Product Specifications and to strive for the constant achievement of world class manufacturing standards measured against International benchmarks through the effective optimisation of equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor all process parameters to ensure timeous intervention should deviations occur.
  • Ensure Proper shift handover
  • Ensure that the ribbon of glass is formed and annealed to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all production data is recorded.
  • Liaise with Management, Engineering personnel and Technical personnel to ensure proper operation of the Hot End process.
  • Maintain high standard of housekeeping.
  • Assist the Hot End coordinator in achieving objectives and targets.
  • Ensure that all aspect of the operation is in control at all times
  • Ensure that the process is controlled within defined parameters to achieve optical quality.
  • Maintain sound industrial relations, ISO and Health and Safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 (Maths and Science)
  • At least one Hot End Competency.
Experience
  • Experience in a production, engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing/production processes.
Skills
  • An in-depth knowledge of glass making techniques and principles is a requirement.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • As this position is exposed to extreme heat conditions we do require the successful incumbent to be medically and physically fit.
