Provides construction site expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjust designs to meet site conditions, oversee construction supervision, and provide final approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications. Develop and maintain construction practices for the project. Control and coordinate construction activities to ensure assigned projects are delivered to the client’s satisfaction and according to safety, quality, time and budget parameters.
Makes independent decisions and recommendations for large independent projects and/or several small independent projects. Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgment but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible. Decisions involve social, environmental, and project impact.
Works with self‑initiated interaction with supervisor and self‑initiated technical guidance. Broad duties assigned at beginning of projects. Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities, and critical areas that impinge on work of other units. Work is reviewed to ensure policy conformity and soundness of approach. Informed guidance is available.
Assigns project work and gives technical guidance to staff assigned to work on small projects. May have direct reports and may have authority for performance evaluations impacting pay.
Strong ability to inform and persuade on complex matters through preparation and delivery of proposals, presentations and reports, as well as collaboration with stakeholders and management.
Strong understanding of systems, processes and tools related to field. Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues.
Typical Qualifications: University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or equivalent trade qualification combined with further relevant training and experience. Experience varies based on education background. Those with degree typically have 5+ years relevant experience. Those with trade qualifications will typically have 10+ years relevant experience.
Global Level Summary: Advanced knowledge and a specialized depth or breadth of expertise within a construction discipline, gaining mastery of a single area or multiple broader areas of specialty, product and systems.
