Job description

The Senior Technical Draughtsman will be responsible for creating detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation for steel and timber shopfitting fixtures.

Working closely with clients, project managers, and the production team, the draughtsman will ensure accuracy and efficiency in the manufacturing process.

This role requires proficiency in SolidWorks, and the ability to work in both 2D and 3D formats.

Key Responsibilities

• Drawing Preparation
  • Interpret client‑provided drawings, artist impressions, and renders to create detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop precise SolidWorks designs in 2D and 3D formats.
  • Prepare and issue comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and cutting lists.
• Production Support
  • Create and optimize CNC machine programs based on manufacturing drawings.
  • Provide technical drawings for client approval and factory production.
  • Ensure all manufacturing drawings meet client specifications and company standards.
  • Work closely with project managers, production teams, and quality assurance personnel for seamless communication and execution.
• Coordinate with other draughtsmen to maintain consistency and share best practices.

  • Review and verify the accuracy of drawings and documents before submission.
  • Address and resolve any discrepancies in drawings or client requirements promptly.
• Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the drawing and production process.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental standards and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within shopfitting or a related industry.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, with demonstrated expertise in both 2D and 3D drawing.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in steel and timber.
• Proven ability to create accurate BOQs, cutting lists, and CNC machine programs.
• Familiarity with technical specifications, tolerances, and material properties.
• Ability to interpret and translate conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
• Team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Reliable and proactive with a strong work ethic.

Specific Material Expertise

• Steel: Work with flat sheet metal (maximum thickness 8mm) and tube (maximum diameter 80mm).
• Timber: Work with all substrates, including chipboard, MDF, melamine woods, and veneers.
