Job summary

A leading food production company in South Africa is seeking a Production/Milling Manager to oversee the milling process, ensuring compliance with safety standards and optimizing productivity. The ideal candidate will possess at least 10 years of experience managing a team of 30+, with a strong background in food safety practices. Responsibilities include managing staff performance, ensuring consistent product quality, and leading daily operational meetings. This role requires hands-on leadership and a commitment to achieving technical goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of food safety experience (HACCP, ISO, FSSC).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as Production/Milling Manager of a team of at least 30 people.
  • Further qualifications or training in people management, industrial relations, and performance management.
  • Fumigation (Pest Control Fumigation course - PCO course) and raw material grading experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage mill process from raw material intake to product bins.
  • Achieve technical value drivers set by the company.
  • Determine training and developmental needs for the department.
  • Participate in daily milling meetings for planning and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure maize mills run at installed capacity to increase productivity.
  • Record and report production summary and calibrate scales.
  • Manage mill staff performance, training, and discipline.
