Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Reference: Pta

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required at a well‑established original equipment manufacturing company. Our client requires a seasoned mechanical engineer with a passion for ensuring product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D. Will contribute to the advancement of cutting‑edge products that make a difference in the Mining industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to design mandates, standards & compliance, and successful implementation of projects within the Research & Development (R&D) department.
• Manage projects effectively, from concept to completion.
• Interface with customers to help establish and prioritize utilization of design resources.
• Direct and guide design engineers on technical‑related issues.
• Manage project/task timelines to ensure that agreed milestones are reached and to communicate and plan for non‑compliance in a timely manner.
• Organize and lead internal design reviews to ensure that designs reviewed with the customer are properly checked for soundness and compliance.
• Lead design reviews with the customer and suppliers.
• Collaborate cross‑team effectively.

Requirements

• BEng Mechanical Engineer / BSc Mechanical Engineering / BTech Mechanical or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design verification, standards implementation, R&D, and project management.
• In‑depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to mechanical systems and products.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools for simulation, modeling, and analysis, including Solid Works or similar 3D design skills.
• Product database management ('PMD') knowledge, ideally Siemens Teamcenter skills.
• Mathematics and/or MATLAB knowledge.
• FEA software, ANSYS for structural evaluation.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset, and creative thinking.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross‑team collaboration.
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects from concept to completion.
• Passion for product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D.
