The School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape has a strong focus on patient and service orientated education, building on a sound scientific base and active research. The School intends to appoint an experienced Academic Pharmacist or Clinical Pharmacologist to complement and enhance both teaching and research expertise in pharmacology and clinical pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on campus and in clinical settings
  • Conduct research and publish in appropriate high impact journals
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment and the continuous improvement of the academic programme
  • Community engagement and outreach activities
  • Manage academic administration
Qualifications
  • A BPharm, MBChB or related degree ANDa PharmD or PhD (in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacology or Clinical Pharmacology), OR a MPharm/MSc (in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacology or Clinical Pharmacology) with extensive (> 5 years) clinical practice experience
  • Current registration with the appropriate Professional Council (SAPC or HPCSA) to practice in South Africa
  • Teaching or practice experience with an innovative approach towards teaching, learning and mentorship
  • A record of relevant high quality accredited publications and experience of postgraduate research supervision, OR, a record of innovative professional/clinical practice and mentorship (if practice-based)
