What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior Laboratory Analyst - Elemental Analysis. The ideal candidate must possess knowledge in problem solving, analytical thinking skills. Must adhere to safe laboratory practices, chemical handling and disposal. The candidate must have knowledge of proper sample collection procedures and techniques and capable of conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments.

What do you expect from a candidate?

Experience in the field of chemical analysis, and the use of emission spectroscopy instrumentation. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills. Excellent communication (written and verbal) with report writing and document reviewing skills. Ability to maintain self-control and work efficiently under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring correct receipt and registration of test items. Ensure proper housekeeping is maintained in the laboratories and offices. Any other duties and responsibilities as given by the Laboratory / Technical Manager of Absolute Science. Ensure correct completion of all documents and records that form part of the Quality Management System to effect full traceability of testing activities. Responsible for ensuring that the management system related to quality is always followed, and that continuous improvement of the quality management system and laboratory processes are effected. Recording data accurately and promptly and in compliance with ISO and taking responsibility of the quality of the data generated. Prioritising projects and studies by integrating and coordinating operations to provide a comprehensive service to all customers. Shares information and work cooperatively with others to obtain company objectives. Ensure that test and reference items are appropriately characterised, stored and disposed of. Be knowledgeable of the Technical Procedures for the duties you are performing. Participate and assist with assessments by external bodies to evaluate the Quality Management System. Timely maintenance, verification and calibration of analytical instrumentation to ensure continued operations in the laboratory. Reporting any equipment to the Laboratory / Technical Manager. Participate in routine Proficiency testing to demonstrate ongoing technical competence. Train personnel by demonstration of apparatus, methods and techniques. Provide support for personnel experiencing problems with instruments, methods and techniques. Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to. Immediately communicate any health and safety issues to the H&S representative or Laboratory Manager.

Must-Have

• Must have three to five years proven working experience in the use of ICP-OES, experience working with Agilent instruments will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of ISO technical signatory will be advantageous. Must have experience with method development and validation compliant to ISO.
• Able to tackle complex problems effectively and adapt to fast-paced development environments. A strong leader and have the ability to mentor junior consultants. Proven track record of working effectively in remote team settings, demonstrating flexibility, and contributing positively to a collaborative work environment. Analytical and a Problem‑Solving person: Exceptional ability to analyse complex requirements, identify potential bottlenecks, and devise effective solutions.
