About Our Client

Our client operates in the manufacturing and industrial coatings space, with established operations across South Africa. The business supports multiple finance activities across its business units, with a strong focus on operational accuracy, compliance, and financial control. This role offers exposure to a complex, structured finance environment within a multinational‑style operation.

The Role: Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and performing duties across multiple areas of finance, with a primary focus on the Refinish coatings business unit. The role supports the Finance Manager and works closely with operational, commercial, and corporate stakeholders, ensuring accurate financial control, compliance, reporting, and month‑end processes across a full trial balance location.

Key Responsibilities
  • 5+ years experience managing general ledger activities within a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environment
  • Support the Finance Manager with financial control and administration, focusing on Refinish business unit operations
  • Manage month‑end close processes including journal preparation and review, intercompany recharges, P&L review, and full trial balance management
  • Perform regular general ledger reconciliations, analysis, and corrective actions
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and supervise stock counts
  • Prepare and support cost analysis for the Finance Manager and Market Director
  • Assist with cash flow preparation and monitoring as required
  • Support annual statutory audits and respond to internal and external audit requests
  • Support banking activities, payment approvals, and treasury‑related tasks
  • Assist with rebates, accruals, calculations, and financial data verification
  • Support shop branch managers and supervise or support finance team members
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc projects and cross‑functional finance initiatives
About You
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial listed company, preferably within a multinational environment
  • Related finance degree with equivalent practical experience
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing finance
  • ERP / SAP experience is essential
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • High level of financial acumen with the ability to read and interpret financial statements
  • Experience supporting budgeting, planning, and monthly budget vs actual analysis
  • Exposure to VAT, corporate tax support, and statutory compliance
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Resilient, assertive, and comfortable operating in a high‑pressure environment
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills across finance, sales, operations, and external parties
