Job description

Job Purpose

To protect employees, assets, information, and reputation of Air Chefs by implementing and maintaining the Air Chefs Catering Stores and Catering Supplies Security Manual in compliance with the National Aviation Security Programme (NASP) and Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs).

Develop, implement, and monitor adherence to security and loss control systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective asset protection and compliance with aviation security standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Aviation Security Management

• Formulate and implement company security policies and standards.
• Ensure compliance with SACAA-approved security manual and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct threat and risk assessments; develop security management plans.
• Liaise with government, law enforcement, and aviation authorities.
• Prepare for audits (CAA, TSA, airlines) and ensure readiness

Security Operations

• Develop and maintain site security plans, contingency plans, and emergency response plans.
• Implement and monitor security operational plans and crime prevention strategies.
• Manage serious security incidents and compile investigative reports within 72 hours.
• Maintain security risk register and monthly crime statistics.

Loss Control Management

• Analyse business processes to identify risks and implement loss control strategies.
• Integrate physical and technological security measures with operational protocols.
• Direct investigations to ensure successful resolution and prosecution where applicable.
• Manage intelligence gathering and implement control processes to mitigate asset risks.

Contract Security Management

• Manage service level agreements with contracted security providers.
• Conduct monthly operational meetings and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and address non-conformances.

Investigations

• Conduct investigations into incidents and crimes, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks.
• Collect and preserve evidence, compile reports, and advise on corrective actions.
• Support disciplinary processes and testify in hearings or court when required.

Security System and Technology

• Implement and maintain access control systems (Biometrics) and CCTV.
• Ensure maintenance contracts for security systems and plan upgrades for outdated technology.

Financial Management

• Prepare and manage security budgets and cost control measures.
• Monitor expenditure and compile financial reports.

People Management

• Manage staffing levels and resource allocations of the service provider.
• Set and monitor performance targets and provide coaching.
• Take corrective action for non-performance.

Stakeholder Relations

• Maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders (SAPS, EMPD, SACAA).
• Attend airport security committee meetings and other stakeholder forums.

Security Administration

• Process invoices on SAP and verify accuracy.
• Coordinate fraud/corruption hotline reports and vetting information.
• Maintain security statistics and documentation

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Diploma/Degree in Security Management or Aviation Security preferred.
• PSIRA Grade A certification.
• Aviation Security Management Diploma.
• 5–10 years in Aviation Security, preferably in catering operations.
• 3 years supervisory experience in security.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations, NASP, POPI Act, CPA, Protected Disclosures Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Project management and investigation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid Code 8 EB Driver’s License.
