Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy based in Durban is seeking a candidate to manage the full lifecycle of PM master data including Functional Locations and Equipment Masters. The role requires conducting electrical and mechanical inspections, supporting maintenance and reliability improvements, and optimizing CMMS integrity. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in maintenance environments and proficiency in SAP PM. This fixed-term position may lead to a permanent appointment.

Qualifications

• 35 years experience in maintenance or engineering environments, preferably in mining or manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of technical documentation control.
• Experience with inspections and measurements in mechanical or electrical fields.

Overview

This fixed‑term role may lead to a permanent appointment for an internal incumbent.

You will manage the full lifecycle of PM master data, including Functional Locations, Equipment Masters, Bills of Materials, and Preventive Maintenance Plans, while supporting maintenance execution, reliability improvement, and statutory compliance.

The role also includes conducting electrical or mechanical inspections to validate asset information and enhance the performance of plant equipment.

Success requires a combination of SAP PM expertise, engineering insight, precision in documentation, and the ability to work closely with maintenance, reliability, and project teams to optimise the integrity of the CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Lead the lifecycle management of PM master data (Functional Locations, Equipment Masters, Boms, Preventive Maintenance Plans).
• Support maintenance execution, reliability improvement, and statutory compliance.
• Conduct electrical or mechanical inspections to validate asset information and enhance plant equipment performance.
• Work closely with maintenance, reliability, and project teams to optimise CMMS integrity.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 plus SAQA‑accredited N6 or S4 in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 35 years experience in maintenance or engineering environments (mining or manufacturing advantageous).
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical or electrical inspections and measurements.
• SAP PM proficiency (training / certification advantageous).
• Strong understanding of preventive / predictive maintenance principles and technical documentation control.
• Advanced MS Excel; AutoCAD exposure beneficial.
• Excellent accuracy, problem‑solving and communication skills.
