Road Freight Controller (Cross-Border)

In line with Rangel's growth and expansion strategy, we are intending to reinforce our operations team with experienced professionals in our Johannesburg Office.

We are looking for an experienced Road Freight Controller with strong cross-border road freight forwarding expertise to join our dynamic logistics team.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience managing cross border road freight operations, ensuring seamless movement of cargo across borders while maintaining compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and control cross-border road freight movements from origin to destination;
• Liaise with transporters, clearing agents, border posts, and clients to ensure smooth operations;
• Prepare, verify, and manage customs documentation;
• Track shipments and provide proactive updates to clients;
• Ensure compliance with cross-border regulations, customs requirements, and company SOPs;
• Manage delays, breakdowns, and route challenges with effective problem‑solving;
• Negotiate and manage transport costs while maintaining service levels;
• Ensure accurate data capturing, billing, and job costing;
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and transport partners.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Road Freight Controller in a freight forwarding environment;
• Proven cross-border road freight experience;
• Strong understanding of customs procedures, border documentation, and transit regulations;
• Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills;
