We are seeking an experienced Renewable Project Manager to lead innovative solar and power infrastructure projects with a focus on a 1MW PV Solar Farm project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This is a one-year fixed term contract.
This role involves overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope while driving sustainable energy solutions. The position offers the opportunity to work on impactful initiatives, collaborating with diverse teams to achieve excellence.
Qualifications
- Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years experience in project management within the power or energy sector.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and CAD software for system design.
- Knowledge of national and international electrical engineering standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, SANS, BS).
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and permitting processes for solar installations.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (fluency in English required; French is a plus).
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., ECSA, SAIEE, or equivalent) is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute and manage solar energy and power infrastructure projects ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budgets.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers, contractors and stakeholders to align projects with goals and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and technical evaluations to determine optimal solutions for solar and power infrastructure development, particularly for the DRC project.
- Provide technical expertise on solar systems, transmission and distribution infrastructure including equipment selection and design optimization.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and industry standards including national and international regulations.
- Lead tendering processes for power projects and identify opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
- Train and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Manage budgets, forecasts and project documentation with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Remuneration and Employment Details
Package & Remuneration: R60 000 - R70 000 per month
