Job summary

A leading global consumer goods company is seeking a Quality Technician in Durban, South Africa. The successful candidate will ensure that products consistently meet quality standards and specifications, guarantee their safety and compliance, and drive a zero defect culture.   • Assist with quality assurance service to ensure product safety and compliance.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

This role assists with the quality assurance service to the business in order to ensure that products produced by the company are fit for use by the consumers according to company’s specifications and standards and driving zero defect culture within the organization with the use of WCM.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
  • Diploma/B.Tech Food Tech/Biotechnology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Working Knowledge of production and engineering processes, supply chain, and planning.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a working environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Fully operational in WCM QC tools.
  • Working knowledge in WCM Q methodology.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP and GMPs.
  • Working knowledge of OHS act and safe operating procedures.
Skills
Operational Activities
  • Carryout online trouble shooting to identify product quality issues and generating of NCA/D incidents in the event that quality defects are identified. Use QEWOs to drive RCAs.
  • Co-ordinate trouble shooting for defective packaging material effecting production, raise SNCRs and follow up with supplier using 8 stages of incoming goods.
  • Conduct internal audits and drive closure of internal audits findings for respective units.
  • Ensure that proactive approach is taken towards Quality or Food safety gaps.
  • Weekly verification of quality critical instruments in the packing hall.
  • Participate in taste panels as approved testers and make decisions on status of products in terms of acceptance or rejection. (Mandatory that person does not smoke due to the negative effect this has on sensory evaluation which is a key component of the job).
  • Landing Innovation in factory for quality/Food safety aspects.
  • Lead problem solving kaizens derived from QA prioritization matrix to obtain zero defects.
  • Setting up and supporting SAP QM for new and current SKUs.
  • Packaging material analysis and approval of material.
Administrative Activities
  • Generating of NCA's, SNCRS, D incidents and QEWOs.
  • Weekly reporting consumer/customer complaints, SNCRs, D incidents/QEWOs.
  • Kaizen review
Specific Criteria
  • Retrieval of samples from retention location and setting-up against Customer complaint sample and preparing all the necessary forms for evaluation.
  • Evaluating customer complaints against standards and completing evaluation documentation.
  • Prepare and write reports for consumer services team regarding investigated complaints.
  • Trending and analyzing of CRQS EOLAS reports.
  • Analysis and release of packaging material of SAP.
  • Custodian of SAP/SAP PLM
