Overview

An established Engineering and Project Management firm, operating in complex energy infrastructure environments - including renewable energy and nuclear sectors - is seeking a skilled PV Solar Design Engineer to join their team based in Cape Town!

This role is ideal for a technically strong electrical engineer with a passion for renewable energy, particularly in Solar PV system design.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complete solar PV systems for commercial and industrial applications.
• Produce electrical schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Perform system simulations and energy yield calculations.
• Support project execution teams with accurate designs and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local grid codes, electrical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, bill of materials, and other project documentation.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2–4 years' experience in solar PV system design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design tools.
• Solid understanding of photovoltaic technology, electrical systems, and grid-tied solutions.
• Familiar with South African electrical standards (e.g., SANS, NRS).
