Preamble

Kathu Operations is a 100 MW green‑field Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project with parabolic trough technology, equipped with a molten‑salt storage system that allows 4.5 hours of thermal energy storage and thus limits the intermittent nature of solar energy.

Key Responsibilities & Purpose of the Job
  • Purpose: Apply advanced electrical expertise to PV plant electrical assets to achieve operational performance targets. Ensure all electrical interventions – diagnostics, repairs, calibrations, component replacements – are executed within required timeframes, industry standards and at optimal cost.
  • Plan and manage maintenance activities: Use CMMS systems (MAXIMO/SAP) directed by the Electrical Lead Tech, Maintenance Manager and O&M Planner.
  • Maintain equipment warranties: Execute all work per relevant manuals and documentation to mitigate risks of voiding warranties.
  • Report plant performance: Provide daily, monthly and quarterly observations, electrical measurements, faults, maintenance activities, equipment condition, outages, safety concerns and any issues affecting PV system performance to the Performance Engineer.
  • HSE and Quality Assurance: Enforceுகிறது HSE and Quality policies, ensure strict adherence to safety measures during day‑to‑day maintenance activities.
  • Prepare for, manage and execute corrective maintenance on the PV plant, following HSE procedures.
  • Ensure a Permit to Work for all tasks as required by HSE procedures.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance disciplines (C&I) to support continuous plant operation.
  • Respond to breakdowns – fault‑find, root‑cause analysis, resolve, repair or replace faulty equipment with minimal energy loss.
  • Administer preventive/predictive/corrective mechanical maintenance programmes via the CMMS.
  • Diagnose, test, repair and/or replace PV panels, cables, interconnections, junction/string rifles, connectors, fuses, transformers, HV yard equipment, mechanical tracking system components, switchgear and control gear.
  • Assist contractors with resources, tools and CMMS recording.
  • Perform technical maintenance with special attention to conversion units and tracking system.
  • Handle additional ad‑hoc activities as instructed by the Lead Tech or Maintenance Manager.
  • Link detected data from SCADA bebe control rooms to plant events.
  • Help draft maintenance procedures and participate in SAP/MAXIMO Nouvegordonn atimplementation.
  • Train or mentor interns or Technical Assistants when required.
  • Respond to plant alarms by diagnosing faults after CRO notification.
  • Manage tools, spares and consumables inventory with risk control.
  • Respect the O&M agreement with the Owner and other contractual obligations.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to plan, install and maintain electrical systems safely.
  • Execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes as scheduled through the computerized maintenance management system, coordinating with the Maintenance Planner, Electrical Engineer and Maintenance Manager.
Health & Safety

The job holder will work in a controlled hazardous environment.

  • Work Level: Level 4 – tasks represent a medium risk of accidents that can generate permanent consequences such as burns, mutilations or irreversible wounds.
  • Exposure to Risks: Traffic/automobile accidents, ergonomic problems, and inherent risks of inspecting site visits, നിയ engineering operations and maintenance activities.
  • Recommended PPE: Hard hat/safety helmet, ear protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask, cotton coveralls, safety gloves, respiratory mask.
Communication and Working Relationships

  • External: Contractors, service providers, energy regulators (KSP and AMEA).
Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • N6/ National Diploma or BTech in Electrical (Power Engineering).
  • Trade test certificate: Electrical Engineering.
  • Driver's licence.

Experience:

  • 3‑5 years in electrical maintenance of a large power plant or industrial oil and gas, petrochemical, mineral processing or chemical industry.
  • Experience with safety systems.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of PV inverters and related equipment.
  • Engineering concepts, standards and principles knowledge.
  • MV/HV switching (Authorized person).
  • Utility‑scale PV plant construction or operations.

Skills:

  • Highly proactive and self‑motivated.

  • Comfortable with computer‑generated data instrumentation (SCADA and sensors).
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations for energy-generating facility O&M.
  • Ability to perform first aid and CPR.
  • High proficiency in business computing applications such as databases, Word processors, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Maximo/EPS (Oracle or SAP).

Language: Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.
