Job Description

This role provides management support, administration and coordination for day‑to‑day project activities, facilitates communication among project partners, tracks progress, and reports to ensure compliance with Pandemic Fund Implementing Entities’ and other funders’ requirements. It includes overseeing funded projects, managing contract processes, reporting internally and externally, financial and expenditure tracking, disbursements, querying and requests for project changes, monitoring progress, and recording project outputs.

Key responsibilities include liaison with Implementing Entities and project leads to ensure timely implementation, management and coordination of stakeholder partnerships, budget coordination, and reporting under the supervision of the program manager.

The incumbent is also responsible for project administration, coordinating internal and external partner working group/steering committee meetings and workshops, supporting agenda preparation, drafting minutes and actions, monitoring action items, and information management.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the portfolio of the SAMRC Pandemic Fund and related projects to ensure implementation and delivery in line with approved timelines, milestones, and budgets.
  • Project administration, including compliance, monitoring and reporting.
  • Stakeholder liaison: serve as the focal point for communication between government departments, Implementing Entities, and project & technical teams.
Contract Details

Duration of Contract: 3 years

Remuneration: R per annum (cost of living to company)

Requirements
  • 3‑year relevant tertiary degree.
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in project management, including tracking and management of financial data, preferably in a health or research environment (pandemic response, disease control, or health systems).
  • Project Management qualification (advantageous).
  • Honours Degree or higher.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a public fund / grant administration environment or similar, managing project portfolios.
  • Preferably experienced working across academia, government departments, industry, and philanthropy.
  • Working knowledge of or background in health research and project management.
