Job description
Purpose

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within the Deboning Hall ensuring that production target, quality standards, safety protocols and regulatory compliance are consistently met.

Requirements
  1. Minimum 3 to 5 years' supervisory experience in a meat or food processing plant, preferably in a unionised environment.
  2. Experience with regulatory compliance.
Formal Qualifications
  • Minimum National Diploma/Degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred HACCP or equivalent food safety certificate.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate daily/weekly production schedules.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and assist in all areas of production to meet production targets.
  • Report on daily yields and track line efficiencies.
  • Identify training needs and provide appropriate training and coaching on the production floor.
  • Maintain constant adherence to all company, customer and legal requirements regarding food safety and quality assurance.
  • Quality assurance and HR policies, procedures and labour legislation compliance.
  • Supervise and guide production staff, monitor their productivity, and counsel them on how to achieve optimal workflows.
  • Participate in departmental meetings regarding product quality and processes when required.
  • Ensure that the highest levels of service, quality and workmanship are maintained.
  • Drive a culture of excellent adherence to health & safety of all employees through the maintenance of a safe working environment.
  • Understand company quality policy statement and implement its requirements.
  • Ensure that all customer expectations in respect of quality are met and exceeded where possible.
  • Monitor line giveaway on weights and packaging waste.
  • Prepare reports on performance and progress and present them to senior managers.
