Qualifications

• Technical Grade 12; Milling Technician (M-A); Production Management/Food
• Fumigation, Maize Grading, OHS Act compliance
• Computer Literacy – Word, Excel
• Food Safety/HACCP/ISO/FSSC 22000 certification
• Minimum 10 years experience as a Production Manager for Maize, including packing
• Agile, deadline-driven, proactive with strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency
• High resilience, situational leadership style, team-oriented
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, people development and analytical skills
• Structured thinking and ability to prepare and ensure adherence to budget and daily production planning by machine
• Experience managing Operational Pre-Requisite Programs (OPRP) and ensuring equipment maintenance and calibration

Responsibilities

• Manage Maize production including packing, budgeting, planning and HR functions (time sheets, leave, training plans, performance assessment, disciplinary action)
• Prepare and enforce adherence to budget and daily production plans by machine
• Ensure availability of raw materials and proper product mixing according to approved specifications
• Guarantee that all scheduled products are produced with consistent quality and packaged to customer specifications
• Maintain daily stock control, minimize shortages, reconcile production with stock issued and packed, and control stock usage and losses
• Track and control maintenance needs and schedules, ensuring equipment is maintained and scales calibrated as per service frequencies
• Optimize usage of mill plant capacity and run all production units at installed capacity to increase productivity and profitability
• Manage staff complement, identify and schedule training for department staff, and report to the General Manager
• Maintain ownership of company car
