Candidates must have a BSc Chemical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 3 years of experience managing water treatment plants. Responsibilities include managing teams, ensuring compliance with KPIs, and driving continuous improvement. Strong communication, ethical leadership, and technical skills in water treatment processes are essential. Only South African citizens will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing and operating advanced water treatment plants.
  • Experience with softening, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis required.
  • Proven management experience and performance track record.

Job description

Plant Manager required for a water treatment company based in Bethal (Mpumalanga)

This position is open to South African citizens only.

Reporting to: Operations Manager (Area)

Role Purpose

Manage and implement operational systems, processes and monitoring activities for the Elders Water Treatment Plant, ensuring efficient performance, client satisfaction and plant availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage production and maintenance teams, as well as contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual quality and quantity KPIs.
  • Maintain strong safety, administration and control procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Manage project account (P&L) and stock control.
  • Monitor, record and report on all plant processes and ongoing projects.
  • Ensure effective resource management to meet performance objectives.
  • Maintain high client service standards and conduct regular client feedback meetings.
  • Compile monthly plant reports and attend client meetings.
  • Monitor plant health and intervene proactively to ensure optimal availability.
  • Report effectively to the Area Operations Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc Chemical Engineering or BEng (Chemical) – required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing and operating advanced water treatment plants.
  • Experience with softening, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis – required.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment assets and plant health.
  • Proven management experience.
  • Strong performance track record.
