Job summary

A leading insurance brokerage firm in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Placement Broker to lead the regional placement team. This role involves managing complex risks, overseeing placement strategies, and maintaining strong market relationships. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of relevant experience and strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans. The position offers a hybrid work schedule for flexibility.

  • FAIS compliant: RE5 as well as 120 credits at NQF level 5.
  • Experience in placing/handling medium to complex risks.
  • Compliance and quality management expertise.

Description

The Role

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively lead the regional placement team including team engagement and management of account allocations
  • Performance management and mentoring of placement team
  • Oversee and support the placement strategy and execution of all accounts
  • Identify potential placement challenges, proactively source and offer fit for purpose solutions for our clients
  • Provide support to client servicing, new business, network business and claims teams when required
  • Represent the region in national insurer liaison meetings and calls
  • Provide support to Heads of Property and Casualty as and when needed
  • Contribute to process improvements and the effective utilization of Broking Platform
  • Maintain and develop market/underwriting relationships
  • Responsible for the broking of identified key accounts within the region
  • Produce accurate acceptance slips, policy wordings and renewal cover and premium comparisons
  • Identify appropriate markets and agree marketing strategy with the account executive
  • Coordinate placements with Willis UK and Willis Fac as may be required
  • Seek adequacy of coverage and competitive rates for clients and prospects
  • Provide coverage and program design advice to account executives and clients
  • Ensure that the insurer / Willis issued policy documents have been received, checked and provided to Account Executive within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure adherence to Group Policies, Standards and Procedures, as well as compliance with local procedures and external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

  • FAIS compliant: RE5 as well as 120 credits at NQF level 5 (or relevant degree)
  • Technical knowledge of all lines of insurance as well as insurance contracts/structure
  • Knowledge and understanding of the global marketplace
  • Experience in placing/handling medium to complex risks
  • Compliance and quality management expertise
  • Computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Skilled at interfacing with customers
  • Strong presentation and communication skills in English and Afrikaans
  • Support nationally based relationships with carriers and clients
