  • Review audit work three days prior to project completion, ensuring comments on results.
  • Issue outstanding item lists on the last day of allocated audit time.
Job description

BDO South Africa is recruiting a Pensions Clerk for its Johannesburg office. The Pensions Clerk reports to the audit senior and is responsible for carrying out assigned audit work, documenting progress, and ensuring completion in line with firm policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Execute audit tasks assigned by the audit senior and update progress regularly.
  • Maintain accurate time records and ensure all work is documented and concluded.
  • Complete audit assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Sign off on audit plan items and record any overs/unders for management letters.
  • Review audit work three days prior to project completion, ensuring comments on results.
  • Issue outstanding item lists on the last day of allocated audit time, including bank confirmation letters, debtors confirmations, legal letters, etc.
  • Supervise less experienced assistants where appropriate.
Competencies
  • Effective and timely communication of all relevant matters to the manager.
  • Immediate attendance and resolution of any problems.
  • Follow-up on all outstanding work/issues in a timely manner.
  • Adherence to the Compass audit plan and timely sign‑off of the audit plan.
  • Accurate recording of overs/unders and timely submission of management letters.
  • Performance of audit work with integrity and ethics.
