  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.

Overview

Our client in the Citrus / Agricultural Industry is currently looking to employ a Packhouse Technologist. This role will be based in Addo. Graduates are welcome to apply. Training will be provided.

Requirements
  • Experience with industrial automation, software configuration, or data analysis
  • Experience with optical sorting, machine learning, or packhouse technologies is advantageous but not required
  • Exposure to agricultural or food processing environments beneficial
  • Tertiary technical qualification (e.g. Industrial Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/IT, Mechatronics or similar)
Responsibilities
  • Configure, optimise, and continuously improve automated fruit sorting and grading systems (e.g. defects, colour, size and quality parameters).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues on grading equipment to ensure accurate sorting and optimal uptime.
  • Analyse data trends and system outputs to improve accuracy, and enhance product quality.
  • Train and support operators and line supervisors in correct system usage and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to integrate improvements and support new technology roll-outs.
  • Stay up to date with emerging packhouse technologies, AI-driven sorting systems, and quality control innovations.
