Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join the Deal Party, Port Elizabeth team.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all daily yard activities, including loading, offloading, storage, and dispatch.
  • Manage the flow and positioning of vehicles, containers, and materials within the yard.
  • Ensure accurate stock control and proper storage of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and transport teams to meet operational requirements.
  • Supervise yard staff, drivers, and operators to ensure productivity and discipline.
  • Allocate tasks, manage shifts, and monitor performance.
  • Provide on-the-job training and ensure staff compliance with procedures and safety standards.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations (OHS Act) and company safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of machinery and vehicles.
  • Report and investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Ensure yard equipment (forklifts, cranes, trucks, trailers, etc.) is used correctly and maintained.
  • Report breakdowns and coordinate repairs and maintenance.
  • Monitor fuel usage, damages, and general asset care.
  • Maintain accurate records of yard activities, stock movements, and vehicle logs.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Assist with stock counts, audits, and investigations as required.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or similar – advantageous
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a yard, logistics, warehouse, or transport environment
  • At least 1–2 years’ supervisory or team leader experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, mining, or logistics environments preferred
  • Valid drivers license and own transport
