We are seeking an Operations Manager
The incumbent will be responsible for the entire operations process in the branch and plan for the smooth and most cost-effective running of the department.
What We’re Looking For
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 5 years logistics /Operations experience
- Logistics diploma or degree an advantage
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems
- Track record in management of skilled/ semi-skilled labour
- Health & Safety qualification in Samtrack or Comsoc an advantage
- Experience in Union negotiations
- Proficiency in Microsoft programmes
- Able to implement change and plan for maximum cost efficiencies
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of operational assets including stock, vehicles, consumables, maintenance requirements of vehicles and stock.
- Responsible for planning and distribution of company assets to achieve maximum efficiency in servicing and collection/ delivery of stock
- Train, maintain and implement logistics standards with regards to efficiency of vehicles, including fuel efficiency, vehicle cost, maintenance schedules, service benchmarks, vehicle tracking, etc.
- Ensure the prevention of vehicle accidents through driver training including assessments, advance driver training, key efficiency measurable, etc.
- Form part of a national operations pear group to ensure consistency of process and reporting throughout the Sanitech group as well as the sharing of best practices
- Issuing of daily work and reporting daily to branch manager any variations from prescribed work schedule including collections, deliveries and services.
- Overall responsibility for Health and Safety in operations
- Recruit staff, performance manage subordinates, discipline and dismiss in a manner that ensures that the company gets maximum productivity whilst not exposing the company to any risk
- Ensure staff are trained and motivated to assist them in growing and achieving goals in line with the company vision
- Manage clocking times and overtime on a daily basis, to ensure clocking accuracy and eliminate excess overtime
- Making sure all staff is trained to work in a relevant position
- Customer liaison in regard to operation issues
- Loading time sheet on Turbo time for weekly pay
- Ensuring timeous submission of timesheets, leave forms, termination and employment contract to payroll dept
- Face to face coaching with all drivers with timeous feedback to Branch Manager.
- HR/IR Matters
- Manage all PPE requirements for all service staff.
- Conduct Toolboxes talk on a weekly basis.
- Driver Training and disciplinary of Drive-Cam to be delivered to all drivers.
- Must be able to review and adjust routing to allow for cost effective distribution
- Must ensure claims investigation in conjunction to Logistics analysis
Key Performance Measurables:
- Cost per KM reduction with regards to vehicles by type.
- Reduction in accident claims.
- Improve efficiency in respect of number of services per vehicle type and reduction in cost per service.
- Consistent and accurate reporting of KPI’s for the operations department
- Manage and reduce overtime costs
- Material cost within budget
