The Role

The Operations Manager is a hands‑on, entrepreneurial make‑things‑happen project‑management practitioner who oversees the realization of solar photovoltaic projects by supervising and coordinating their progress through engineering, procurement, construction & commissioning, and operation & maintenance. The manager maintains a keen eye on optimizing time, cost, and quality while applying the requisite safety standards.

As the business scales, the role may evolve from managing specific projects to leveraging experience to optimize processes for seamless integration of all execution functions, ensuring optimal business performance and customer satisfaction.

The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to lead such transformation.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, train, mentor, develop, and manage high‑performance operations teams to realize projects on time and to quality.
  • Establish efficient and cost‑effective execution processes in consultation with all stakeholders and ensure continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensure fluidity of execution via seamless integration of activities across different responsibilities.
  • Monitor and manage load versus capacity and ensure alignment of supply‑chain and other function deliverables.
  • Track and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Formulate performance improvement plans/reviews and make termination decisions as necessary.
  • Provide leadership to oversee field engineering, material and equipment management, and construction phases of the projects in line with project schedules.
  • Understand and implement the most cost‑effective field engineering, installation and operation processes, procedures and methods and materials for the projects.
  • Manage and ensure adherence to all safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A BSc Engineering degree or equivalent and a minimum of eight years of experience.
  • At least five years of management experience, at least four of which in the construction industry.
  • Five years of progressive experience in the solar photovoltaic business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to visit and work on sites frequently.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment criminal, driving and drug screen.
