Job summary

A safety consultancy firm is seeking an experienced OHS Practitioner in Bloemfontein. You will ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation for clients, conducting risk assessments and developing safety policies. The ideal candidate should have a relevant qualification, around 3 years of consultancy experience, and be fluent in Afrikaans and English. We are seeking to employ an experienced and well‑organized OHS Practitioner to join our vibrant OHS team in Bloemfontein.

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently while contributing positively to a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. Strong technical understanding, professionalism, and consistent service delivery are essential.

As an OHS Practitioner at SERR Synergy, you will ensure that our business clients comply with occupational health and safety legislation by identifying, assessing, and managing workplace risks. You will implement safety policies, conduct inspections, facilitate training, and promote a safe and healthy working environment for employees.

Minimum requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety Management, Risk Management, Environmental Management, NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, MESHTRAC, OHS Practitioner Certificate, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Knowledgeable on the South African health and safety legislation, regulations and standards for general, agriculture, mining and construction industries.
  • +/- 3 years of relevant experience in Occupational Health and Safety consultancy.
  • Preferably fluent in Afrikaans and English (written and verbal).
  • Own reliable transport.
  • SACPCMP registration will be an advantage
Your duties as an OHS Practitioner will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review OHS management systems for SME and mid‑tier clients.
  • Conduct risk assessments, gap audits, site inspections, and compliance evaluations with minimal supervision, and recommend practical, workable solutions.
  • Provide clear advisory support, helping clients understand their legal obligations and compliance requirements.
  • Advise clients on corrective measures, system improvements, and legislative updates.
  • Assist clients with incident reporting and support investigations where required.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of South African OHS legislation and support clients accordingly.
  • Prepare clients for Department of Labour inspections and compliance audits.
  • Demonstrate independence, reliability, and strong time management by maintaining audit‑ready documentation.
