Overview
A full day vacancy exists for a qualified and experienced Occupational Health Nurse reporting to the Business Manager. The successful candidate will be based at a client site in Secunda, Mpumalanga Province and will be responsible for the rendering of quality Occupational Healthcare Services which are effective, efficient and meet and exceed the client’s expectations and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and maintenance of a quality and effective on-site Occupational, Primary Health program
- Conduct examinations and tests, in accordance with an annual Medical Surveillance Matrix, Occupational Health Plan and Program
- Provide effective first line emergency treatment, when required. This includes in-service training of qualified First Aiders and the compiling of a Clinic Emergency Plan
- Work closely with the on-site Occupational Medical Practitioner (OMP) to facilitate legal and contractual compliance and client satisfaction
- Identify, refer and follow up employees with abnormal test results or identified illnesses or injuries
- Provide feedback regarding fitness to work and alternative placement, when required
- Assist the OMP with trending of medical surveillance results to identify areas of concern requiring intervention and corrective measures
- Provide information regarding proposed control and corrective measures to reduce identified occupational health risks and hazards
- Assist the OMP with scheduled walkthrough Occupational Health Risk Assessments and feedback reports to the Client
- Implement and maintain a chronic illness monitoring program
- Assist the Client with ability to work assessments, when required
- Compile and submit accurate and professional monthly reports on the required dates and formats
- Assist the Client with overall improvement of employee wellness through clinic consultations and monthly health awareness programs
- Ensure clinic stock is ordered on time in accordance with the monthly budget, minimum and maximum stock levels
- Assist with quarterly stock takes
- Ensure compliance with professional, clinical, ethical, quality standards, policies and procedures
- Participate in Life Health Solutions’ clinic audits and assist with external Client audits
- Ensure compliance with administrative systems, including COID/RMA administration of employees injured at work
- Provide regular feedback required by the Client
Requirements
- Registered as an Occupational Health Nurse with SANC
- Competency certificates in:
- Audiometry (registered with SASHON)
- Lung Function testing (Spirometry)
- Vision Screening - Dispensing
- Work well within a team
- Good organisational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Computer literacy and proficiency (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
- Own transport and accommodation
- Candidates who are results orientated, focus on the rendering of quality services, are customer oriented, have the ability to manage and control clinic costs, will be most suitable for this position
