Overview

To create and produce multimedia digital content and animations on sciences, engineering, digital arts, health sciences and related fields. The position will play a key role in the development of digital dome shows for research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and other media designed to engage, inspire and entertain school children, the public and for events. The secondary function of the position is to assist with the presentation of shows.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Arts / Arts / IT / Electrical & Electronic Engineering / Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in graphics design, multimedia content creation and animation.
Skills Requirements
  • Script writing (unscripted/reality format shows).
  • Web based content development.
  • Virtual Reality Video and 3D Development.
  • Software skills: Python programming, Adobe After Effects and motion graphics.
  • Experience in Blender, Open Space, World-Wide Telescope knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Good technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to work independently to strict deadlines.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and create digital educational content and shows for the Digital Dome targeting audiences such as the general public, university students and school children.
  • Research, plans, designs and develops new program topics and content. This may include writing and producing short movies for the digital dome.
  • Develop pre-visualisation sequences using 2D and 3D animation software and create final sequences using 2D and 3D software.
  • Provides technical coding expertise for assisting in the advancement of scripts, supporting program revision and software programming.
  • Work with other staff to ensure proper integration of all media content and components in the Digital Dome.
  • Assist with the creation of promotional materials for use in social media and website and updating of these platforms.
  • Keep abreast of current technology and trends. Maintain contact with planetarium professionals and vendors to maintain and keep up with the best rendering and encoding practices.
  • Edits and produces soundtracks for the planetarium shows.
  • Assist with the presentation of shows.
