A leading company in the industry is seeking a Site Accountant to manage financial functions and ensure financial controls are maintained at the Durban location. The role involves implementing cost accounting procedures, accurate reporting, coordinating monthly stock takes, and preparing annual budgets, among other responsibilities. Candidates will contribute significantly to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods to accurately account for costing of products.
• Ensure controls are implemented and operating effectively to mitigate the risk of fraud and material misstatements.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting on site performance.
• Full understanding of the value chain.
• Co-ordinate and participate in monthly stock take for Durban Wheat Mill.
• Ensure that accurate inventory counts are captured on the financial system.
• Ensure intercompany loan accounts balance monthly.
• Prepare and capture the month-end journals and ensure that month-end closure deadline is met.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monthly reporting on expenses and inefficiencies in the value chain.
• Annual budget preparation.
• Co-ordinate and participate in annual asset verification.
• Ensure adherence to Import stock requirement and document retention.
• Review and control customer PODs for validity, customer claims.
