The Role: Metallurgical Operator
As a Metallurgical Operator, you will provide technical support to the Production Superintendent by conducting process audits, monitoring quality control, and driving continuous improvement across plant operations. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with best practices, safety, and legal requirements, while also developing technical staff through training, coaching, and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in DMS and recovery or separation technology, with at least 3 years at a senior management level
  • Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and legislation
  • Monitor, manage, and improve quality control across all plant processes
  • Perform metallurgical test work and compile accurate technical reports
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement process improvements and optimise equipment utilisation
  • Develop and track production budgets, submitting capital and strategic expenditure proposals where required
  • Drive training, coaching, and succession planning to build team capability
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security regulations

About You

  • Degree in a Metallurgical-related discipline from a recognised institution (Code 8 licence required)
  • 8+ years of experience in metallurgical operations, with 5 years at a senior management level preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of diamond processing plants, DMS, and recovery circuits
  • Skilled in metallurgical auditing, quality control, and reporting
  • Solid understanding of best practices in metallurgical processes, safety, and environmental standards
  • Proficient in MS Office and technical reporting
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and teamwork abilities
  • Clear criminal record with security/police clearance
