A leading South African manufacturer of pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its design department. With a strong in-house capability and global market reach across mining, oil & gas, shipping, and rail maintenance sectors, this is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer looking to contribute to innovation and product excellence.

This role offers exposure to multiple sectors (mining, oil & gas, rail, etc.), providing long-term career growth into senior design, research & development, or technical leadership positions.

Salary: R25,000 – R40,000 CTC (Structured to suit candidate, based on qualifications and experience).

Industry: Pneumatic & Hydraulic Equipment Manufacturing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • 2–3 years’ relevant work experience (experience in manufacturing is advantageous).
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fluid power systems.
  • Familiarity with schematics and logic circuitry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and improve pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Create 3D models, detailed technical drawings, and documentation using CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Conduct design reviews ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards.
  • Support manufacturing teams by resolving technical challenges and driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage design changes and maintain accurate records of revisions.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and prototyping of new and existing designs.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure all designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-efficient
