Marketing & Business Development Manager

Location: Johannesburg (with frequent travel across Sub-Saharan Africa)

Level: Mid-Management (Paterson Grade D3–D5)

About the Role

This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and proven experience in marketing, business development, and corporate communications.

The successful candidate will oversee communication strategies, brand management, media relations, and event execution while supporting business development initiatives. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure high-quality campaigns that enhance brand visibility, support business growth, and foster strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communication Strategy: Develop and implement corporate communication strategies, both internal and external, aligned with business goals.
  • Content Creation: Draft company materials including brochures, presentations, newsletters, and editorial content.
  • Brand Management: Oversee brand identity and collateral, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
  • Digital & Media: Maintain website, intranet, and communication channels while implementing media and PR strategies.
  • Event Management: Plan and execute high-quality company events, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Business Development: Support new project opportunities by contributing to strategies, presentations, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, suppliers, and media partners.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
  • 3–8 years’ experience in corporate communications and business development.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with proven integrity.
  • Business acumen and the ability to adapt strategies to industry trends.
  • Excellent presentation, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
