Game Lodge is seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all lodge maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a hands-on approach, and the ability to manage a small team of maintenance staff to ensure the lodge and guest facilities are safe, functional, and of the highest standard. This role is critical in supporting an exceptional guest experience in a luxury safari environment.
Maintenance Operations
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance across all lodge buildings, guest rooms, staff accommodation, vehicles, and equipment.
- Manage all aspects of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ensure all systems (water, power, irrigation, sewage, etc.) are fully operational at all times.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise the lodge maintenance team.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Foster a proactive and collaborative team culture.
Vendor & Budget Management
- Source and manage contractors and external service providers as needed.
- Monitor and maintain an inventory of maintenance tools, materials, and spare parts.
- Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance budget.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and compliance reports.
Guest Experience Support
- Ensure all guest areas, lodges, and facilities are maintained to the highest standard at all times.
- Work closely with the Lodge Manager and all departments to minimize disruptions to guest experiences.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in facilities or maintenance management, preferably in lodges, hotels, or resorts.
- Strong technical knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general mechanical systems.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in a remote lodge environment.
